What is the difference between dry and dehydrated skin?

Essentially, dry skin is lacking in natural oils, whilst dehydrated skin is lacking in water. You can suffer from either, or have both at the same time.

Signs of Dry Skin:

• Skin is clear, smooth. It looks like porcelain
• Pores are tight, with rarely any spots
• Skin may be quite thin and fragile
• Skin may have Milia - round pearl-like spots, that will not 'burst' if you try to pick at them
• Skin is flaky or rough to the touch
• Premature ageing - fine lines and wrinkles
• This skin is often misidentified as 'normal' skin.

Signs of Dehydrated Skin:

• Open pores. As the base of pores are normally grey in colour, when the pores are open, they may look like black heads
• Congested T-Zone with a sprinkling of spots
• There may be lumps under the skin, but never turn into spots.
• At the start of the day, skin looks matt and taut, but by mid-afternoon a light, fluid oil is apparent. 
• Skin colour is often grey, with a dull and lifeless appearance.
• There is a lack of suppleness to the skin, making it feel tight and uncomfortable.
• Skin takes on a crepey appearance - skin is thin, fragile, and finely wrinkled, resembling crepe paper.
• This skin is often misidentified as 'combination' skin.

When Does Ageing Begin?

Unfortunately, the ageing process starts from the age of 20, when enzymes begin to break down the proteins in the skin. Expression lines are usually the first wrinkles to appear. From the age of 30, fibroblast cells slow down their production of collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid. In our 40's collagen fibres lose their elastic nature, beginning rigid and causing wrinkles to form.

Who is This Facial Treatment For?

This is for you if you can relate to any of the above symptoms from dry skin, dehydrated skin and/or ageing skin. Anyone from the age of 20 will benefit from this treatment, however, anyone from the age of 40 upwards can expect to see significant improvements to the signs of ageing.

This treatment has been developed to hydrate your skin & reactivate the natural oils levels. Skin will be supple & smooth, open pores will be reduced, fine lines plumped & blurred. Your skin will be glowing & more able to defend itself against premature ageing.

You will be indulged in 60 minutes of pure bliss, while your skin receives the ultimate result-driven treatment. All the highest grade ingredients are used in this facial for visible results after just one treatment. You can expect the results to last up to 10 days. A course of treatments will have a greater, long-term effectiveness, against the signs of ageing.

What Happens in This Facial Treatment?

The facial begins with warm cotton pads placed over the eyes to soothe and cleanse the gentle eye area. A double cleanse, using the Deep Cleansing and Skin Rejuvenating Pods, deep cleans the skin 4x times more effectively than just cleansing using fingers alone.

Next up comes the essential exfoliation. I firmly believe exfoliating the skin is essential to remove the dry, crusty dead skin cells. It makes a massive difference to the skin and means all our expensive creams and lotions can reach the younger skin and work harder to give a visible smoothness and brightness to the skin. The Exfoliator used in these facial has no bits to it, meaning it is super gentle on the skin and will not cause micro-lesions to the surface of the skin.

A facial massage is next, using a beautiful, freshly-mixed cocktail of products, including (amongst other products) Freeze Dried Algae and hyaluronic acid to repair the skin's barrier, deep cleanse, detoxify, and deeply hydrate the skin.

The Collagen Sheet Mask is then placed over the face in sections using yet more hyaluronic acid, treating skin that is lacking in water and oil. It plumps the skin, leaving it smooth, comfortable with pore size reduced and skin that is better prepared against premature ageing.
