Angela & The Pamper Lounge Philosophy
Hi, I'm Angie and welcome to Angie’s Pamper Lounge
I've been running my Pamper Lounge from home since 2019. It all came about a few years after I had a serious back injury. Despite getting emergency surgery at 3am one morning in March 2015, I was left with permanent nerve damage. At the time, I was working in an office job, but I was struggling to cope because of my pain levels.
It was my Mum who suggested that I retrain and 'do nails'. For years, Mum has always enjoyed it when I looked after her feet and painted her toenails! Well initally, I just laughed at her idea!! It just goes to show that mums do know best.
Over 5 years later from that first suggestion and here I am doing nails and other treatments!
I have always found joy in pampering others, but after I left school, I didn’t have the confidence to learn beauty at college. In my mind, I wasn’t beautiful enough. However, I always enjoyed 'doing face masks' with my Mum, sister and friends. Helping others to relax gives me much satisfaction.
Running a business is so much more difficult than I ever imagined. It has made me laugh, cry and everything in between. I now have much more respect for anyone running their own business and is another reason why I try to support my local businesses where possible.
Where the philosophy behind my business comes from...
Over the years, I have probably spent hundreds, if not thousands, of pounds on beauty products, cosmetics and makeup. Some brands were good, others didn’t suit me so much. I even found that within the same brand, there are good products and not-so-good products.
The trouble with cosmetic products, I found, is that I bought them, thinking they are the right ones for me, but get them home and try them out myself and either I didn’t like the fragrance (I am particular about fragrances!), or I didn’t like the texture or colour, or the product just didn’t work for me. Or worse - I was allergic to it!
So, I have made it my mission to help others when they are buying their beauty products.
To steer my business towards supporting people to buy good quality treatments and/or products that will work for them. Big mission, I know, but it resonates with many of my clients already! I personally get involved with the products, by trying and testing all the different beauty and fragrance items that I sell. I also have loyal clients who are willing to test out products, and they provide me with valuable feedback! That way I have more of an understanding of which products will suit different skins, ages, lifestyles, etc.
Now, instead of thinking that I am not beautiful enough to work in the beauty industry, I realise that learning how to benefit from using the right beauty products for me personally, helps me to enjoy being the best version of myself I can be. I truly believe that everyone has their own personal charm and beauty. My personal aim is to help people realise their beauty goals in an environment that boosts their inner confidence as much as their outer appearance.
My aim, simply stated, is to make others look and feel beautiful, giving them the confidence that I once lacked.
